Human beings are complex. Our brain is configured to always want more, even when our needs are met. Most of our actions in our daily lives are done in auto-pilot mode. In addition to that, our mind continuously wanders, thoughts come and go non-stop, emotions invade us, impulses inhabit us.
We get lost in our thoughts
We identify with our emotions, our beliefs
We ruminate and procrastinate
We often are slaves to our impulses (eating, shopping, surfing social networks, binging series…)
Most of the time we are caught up in those states of mind, not even noticing it.
Mindfulness Meditation trains us to become aware of the wandering of the mind – PAUSE – and redirect our awareness to the present moment.
Mindfulness helps us:
Step out of auto-pilot mode
Choose to let go of our mental construction
Intentionally redirect our attention in the present moment
And eventually act differently.
